November 9, 2024 at 6:28 pm #8569Great news and well done. The future is there for the taking having no doubt gained a new found attitude to money, its amazing how an iva sharpens the mind on what’s really needed when it comes to spending!!!!
Really should get a medal for getting through an IVA!!

November 11, 2024 at 10:51 am #8570Hi, happy to help now, so you clear your credit files up for when you are ready.
Getting the Defaults dates all alligned can take sometime, especially if the creditor is no longer trading or if its with a catalogue company.
Feel free to reach out when suits you. ryan@tmexpert.co.ukSeptember 5, 2025 at 3:40 pm #13992Hi All,
I hope you are keeping well!
Sorry if this is spam, but just wanted to give an update in case this is helpful to anyone and I guess for myself to keep track of my journey.
I have now paid off my sprout loan which I used to settle my IVA(3 months earlier than contracted) so I guess my IVA saga is officially over in terms of payments.
I still have 12 months until it is removed from my credit reports, but it does feel like i’m on the final stretch, so will use this time to build up my credit profile.
I also managed to secure car finance at a crazy rate of 21% which I know is bad, but my plan is to refinance in 12 months once my credit score significantly improves.
I guess the main reason for writing this is to let others know there is light at the end of the 5 / 6 year tunnel and that you should keep pushing!
I know some people may frown upon the car finance but for me I’m very happy, as one I actually got approved albeit at a high rate, but also because I don’t want to be afraid of credit. I want to be able to use it sensibly for things that are important, which I think I’m in the right mindset to do.
The next milestone for me, hopefully in 18 months or so will be to secure a mortgage, will keep you guys updated!
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or are feeling a bit down and need someone to speak to who has been in your position.
Many Thanks,
Gates
September 5, 2025 at 4:08 pm #14002Hi Gates.
Good to hear how things are going — and good to hear that they are going well. Certainly not spam 🙂
It took me a good few years before I was happy with credit again ( and I am still cautious) but each of us has to deal in our own ways and hearing about the experiences of others is always useful.
Onward and Upward 🙂
September 5, 2025 at 4:13 pm #14011Thanks Foggy, hope you are well too!
Yep completely understand what you mean, it definitely wasn’t an easy decision to make, but I’ve used these last 5 years to learn about credit and feel in a much better informed space now to use it wisely.
Still haven’t opted for a credit card yet though, to be honest that is where my debt stemmed from, will revisit that topic in a year or so, once I have a clean report. I’m hoping my sprout loan and car payments with no negative history will make my credit report a lot more appealing.
September 6, 2025 at 3:30 pm #14021Glad things have worked out well for you.
